“And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man. They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all. Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded; But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed. In that day, he which shall be upon the housetop, and his stuff in the house, let him not come down to take it away: and he that is in the field, let him likewise not return back. Remember Lot’s wife.” Luke 17:26-32
When we think about the phrase, ‘the end is near’, one may think of the editorial cartoon depicting a woeful looking old man with the long beard, dressed in a ragged floor length robe and sandals, holding a placard professing the end as the ignorant throng passes to and fro through a busy square. This is the unbeliever’s comical end time perception of the world. This common perception mocks God’s book containing the coming eternal truths. The Bible says that in these days a mockery will be made of the coming of the Lord just as in Noah’s day when people mocked him and his prophecy of a coming deluge; “Rain? What’s rain?!! HAW! HAW!” But, what does God’s Word say? As it was in the days of Noe and likewise in the days of Lot, so shall it be.
Look with me at the the following clear evidence openly on display today. You may find yourself asking, where did the time go? Is it really so late in God’s timeline? Yes. Look to the previously unfulfilled scripture that taught what to look for, the signs of His coming, they are all coming true today. All the fulfilled prophecies lead us to the knowledge that God’s Word is true and adds strength to faith. Look to the scriptures and see what is yet to come and let His Word be your guide to know how close we are to the end. (If I may suggest, begin by studying these books in context: Zechariah, Zephaniah, Joel, and particularly the books of Daniel and the Revelation of Jesus Christ.) You will find the things to come written therein, which can lead to only one conclusion – Jesus died for sinners and there is only a short time left for one to accept God’s eternal gift of salvation.
“Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.” Rev.1:3
Here, in Matt 24:3, the disciples ask three important questions: “Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?” Jesus then answers them just as He is answering each one of us of these things, including the signs to look out for:
“And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world? And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. All these are the beginning of sorrows. Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake. And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.” Matt.24:3-14
There would be much deception in the world.
Jesus warned us, take heed that no man deceive you. Looking around the world today you can see that immorality is encouraged to become regarded as acceptable. Within that immorality lies much deception, such as: life does not exist at conception, Sodomites are born that way, evolution is observable as science, psychology heals. These are deceptions widely taught and accepted today, particularly to our children at (not just) public schools. The powers that be in high places perpetuate these lies and are intent on pressing on their own diabolical agenda, one that does not include God, deceiving and being deceived in their reprobate state.
There will be wars and rumours of wars, and, nation shall rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom.
Learn the historical accounts of the World Wars and various other wars, particularly the wars since c. May 1, 1776, including the French Revolution. Each war was fomented, instigated and started on purpose. Each war was funded, many with both sides funded by the same financier. Those legendary bankers, the Rothschild family, learned there was no money in loans to the people; the real money was in loans to governments, particularly in funding for wars! To learn about current wars in the world today, all one need do is turn on the internet or television to be up to the minute. You will hear of the wars that are going on around the world today, the espionage, the broken truces, the constant call for so-called world peace by the U.N., and what the Bible calls rumours of wars. Indeed, the global media headlines are incessant with the news of this certain country being sanctioned and the returned saber-rattling and threat of war by biological, nuclear or other means. Notice, the news always names the nations proving once again the Truth according to the scriptures, nation against nation and kingdom against kingdom.
The threat of food shortages and global economic threats abound.
Notice the United Nations austerity impositions against various countries, forcing them to get used to having, “less”. Particularly affected will be prosperous nations such as Canada or the U.S. in the coming years. Of interest are global corporations such as Monsanto, now owned by Bayer, that sell proprietary seed to farmers to grow their crops under constrictive agreements containing the threat of confiscation and other tight penalties for not following growth and other restrictions. (See our January, 2019 newsletter in the archives entitled, “The Grapes of God’s Wrath” for more on, Monsanto.)
Smallpox has killed about 300-500 million people.
The Black Death, or Bubonic Plague, has killed about 75 million people. Spanish Flu has killed about 50-100 million. There is much documentation about pestilences throughout history. Of course, there are so many diseases and plagues worldwide that no one can keep perfect account of them all. More recent modern day plagues that have made people very ill and have cost lives: HIV/AIDS, Flesh Eating Disease, Swine Flu (H1N1), Bird Flu, the Ecoli outbreaks, only to name a few. One of the most recent pandemics or global outbreaks that has hit close to home, at the time this article was originally written, was the Sudden Acute Respiratory Syndrome or the SARS outbreak in 2002-2003. This disease purportedly started in China and was carried to Toronto, Canada, which filled the hospitals with it’s sick. This disease affected over 8000 people and killed over 800 people around the world, including 44 in Toronto alone over a 9 month period according to various sources. It scared people in Toronto to such a degree that many people that had to go out in public wore masks and some were left questioning whether to leave their homes at all. This left the usually busy streets of Toronto literally as empty as a ghost town, as I personally witnessed while living there. That outbreak now pales in comparison to the global Covid-19 pandemic with about 237 million infected, but only 4.8 million dead, globally, as of October 2021, including all of it’s variants. (Updated Oct. 8, 2021; per John Hopkins University)
Earthquakes in a variety of places. All of this is just the beginning of “sorrows”.
According to the U.S. Geological Survey website: of the top 13 most powerful earthquakes since 1900 based on the Richter scale, 6 have occurred since 2004, including 2 of the top 3 – Indonesia and Honshu, Japan. The etymology of the word, “sorrows” is defined as birth pangs. Any mother can tell you that the character of birth pangs may be defined as increasing in frequency and intensity as the birth draws nearer. This is a very apt analogy to what we see in the world today as pertaining to earthquakes. If you look at the USGS website and take a cross section of recorded seismology, the facts show that earthquakes are increasing in frequency and intensity today.
God’s children will be hated and killed for Jesus sake.
If you are in the habit of watching television, I know you will have observed the unmitigated hatred of Christians in the media today. It seems that the Christian demographic is the only group allowed to be openly mocked without recourse. Much of television depicts Christians as being backward and inept with open bullying toward the meek and lowly believer. Ted Turner, owner of CNN has openly mocked Christianity as, “for losers”, and once asked some of his employees if they were, “a bunch of Jesus freaks”. This is only the beginning. Take the two 17 year old’s, Rachel Scott and Cassie Bernall who were martyred at Columbine High School for voicing their belief in Jesus to their executioners and the shooting at a private Christian college in Oakland, California killing 7. The days are here when those who love Jesus will no longer be tolerated at all in society.
Many offended people, with many betrayals.
Offences will be the modus operandi to help further the coming new world order. Society’s minds and opinions will need to continue being reshaped through a form of mind control, or, mass hypnotism. Intolerance will not be tolerated by this new global regime! This will force a change in society’s perception that you will no longer be allowed to have your own opinion; “we” will do your thinking for you. For instance, perhaps you have heard about the stand of Hollywood’s once-heartthrob-turned-Christian, Kirk Cameron. He was set up and treated with utter disdain by Piers Morgan of CNN, answering with his definition of the traditional marriage. It ended up to the extent that there were calls for his head and that there was no more room for that type of intolerance and outmoded narrow-mindedness in today’s society, simply for speaking his conscience and standing up for God’s definition. Rampant outrage and vicious legal attacks exist against anyone that will take a stand against sin and for anything moral and biblical in society today under the black flag of hate-crimes.
Evidence of outward hatred one for another has definitely increased in history to this end-time. During this modern era of close communications and the increase of knowledge through the internet, we are seeing some stark statistics. Domestic violence has skyrocketed. One in two marriages end in divorce. We hear of parent’s killing their children. Worldwide reports of mass murders from racially and religiously motivated hate crimes abound. Campus shootings are on the increase, from the massacre at Columbine High School, to Virginia Tech U., and even an Amish schoolhouse in Nickel Mines, Pennsylvania. There are statistics that federal convict rates in the U.S. have skyrocketed since the 1920’s, by 561% according to Albany University. Of course, the government and media stats would have you believe that violence rates have been the lowest since the mid-1970’s. Is that why the prisons have more offenders now than ever in history? And, if so, why the increased fear of violent crimes in society today? Our public schools have continual reports of violent acts and widespread bullying. Gangs and gang related warfare is rampant. It is no wonder, the actions follow the motivators. The popular music and violence in movies in this day is violent and hateful. Anger and rage in society today is palatable. God’s Word has warned us and it is coming to pass just as God says.
Many successfully deceptive false prophets.
Of course, the false prophets come in all shapes and sizes, but, in the CTW Newsletter archives, I have a two-part newsletter called, “Satan’s Counterfeits” that lays out about 15 names leading the “who’s who” of the great human deceivers out there, particularly in the charismatic Word of Faith movements. (Feel free to email me for a copy if you are interested in reading it.) These deceivers are successful and getting extremely rich! We also sell a DVD here at Christ The Way Bookstore entitled, “Signs and Wonders Movement Exposed”. One part exposes an actual warehouse company contracted by these religious thieves to accept mail and fill “orders” with talismans, holy water, prayer cloths, trinkets and baubles that are proclaimed to have healing power or to make one wealthy. Yes, it will make “one” wealthy alright – the deceiving tele-evangelist.
Love shall grow cold because of the increase in iniquity.
Can there be any wonder? After all of this sin, this iniquity and dishonesty, after all the idolatry, the witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, and heresies, as described in Galatians 5:20, that love will grow cold? Christians are no longer following the Holy Spirit or reading and obeying God’s Word. There is no more separation from the world. The unsaved are rising up and mocking the saved. Faith has been completely set aside making it impossible to please God. How can we expect to be blessed by our heavenly Father? What should we expect, but for love to grow cold inside and outside our churches today?
All during this time shall the gospel be preached in all the nations of the world.
God has always had his remnant and, just as during Noah’s 120 years, there will always be those that, against all odds, will be there to preach the gospel. What is our commission? Who gave us the power? What does Matt.28 say?
“And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” Matt. 28:18-20
“…and then shall the end come.” Matt.24:14
And then shall the end come. It will come. It is inevitable. If the time was short in Peter’s day, it is much shorter today. If we know it is so short, then what are you doing for heaven’s sake? Yes, there will be trials and temptations. Verse 13 in our text teaches: those that endure to the end of these sorrows shall be saved from it. The servant is not greater than his master. If He endured the shame and persecution, then so must we bear the cross, and we must do it while there is yet time. John 9:4 says, “I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.” Christian: may your Lord find you so doing.
Finally, if while you are at work for the Lord during this end time you find yourself dwelling on the trials and temptations, remember this verse. It was written for you as an exhortation, as a reset switch or a tranquilizer, if you will, during this time… ~R.
“And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.” Matt.24:6
