“The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman’s garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the LORD thy God.” Deut. 22:5
Here in Canada, we live in a nation that loves sports, particularly hockey, but sports in general. Whenever we watch a sports program, it matters not which, the sportscasters nearly always dress very well in a clean, fitted suit with a sharply pressed shirt and necktie while presenting themselves before the television public. I cannot help but think about Mr. Don Cherry. Love him or hate him, he would win my vote as the best dressed man, even though some of those suits could wake the dead! But, Mr. Cherry would never think about dishonouring himself or those he represents by arriving at the job under-dressed.
In our own house, we now have two sons since this newsletter was first published in 2010, but throughout my eldest son’s first year, we were blessed by the Lord to be able to dress him in the best we had while we met with our Lord at church. Titus was nicely dressed up in neatly pressed suit pants, a little white dress shirt with a little matching necktie accompanied by either a suit vest or perhaps a complimenting sweater vest. I must say, he looked sharp and ready to meet the King! He was dressed up and ready for church, just like his dad. Sometimes we would go out for a meal after the morning service or perhaps visit somewhere in public. How many times during the day would we hear someone comment, “Oh! How cute! He looks just like a little man!” Well, that was many years ago now and he still dresses sharply wearing a suit and tie at church. Now we have little Thomas, and just like Titus, he looks just as sharp, just like a little man.
Regardless if you see a cute little boy dressed in a wee suit, or Don Cherry in a suit with high collars, or directors of a multinational corporation at a boardroom meeting, you will find those men will never forget to dress properly, like men, in suits and ties. Why? They all know that a suit makes a man look strong and distinguished. There is meaning behind their dress. It is undeniably a distinctive mark.
If I may insert a liberty here, I would say that if I had to pick one item out of a suit of clothes that best exemplifies and distinguishes the man’s clothing style as described above, I would pick the necktie. Suits, vests, and pressed pants are fine, but I believe this item of clothing would be the defining mark of the man’s dress suit. Looking into it a bit, the necktie has enjoyed a long and colourful history and differs somewhat from one culture to another that employ them, but historically, they were worn for a man’s identification. According to infoplease.com, China’s first emperor was the first to wear a necktie and Americans alone spend more than a billion dollars per year on 100 million ties! However, it is a fact that the traditional necktie is a distinct part of man’s clothes. In truth, a woman simply cannot wear a man’s style suit and tie and look like a lady. She would look like, well, a lady in a man’s suit. It is just as unnatural as a man wearing a dress, it just does not fit.
Challenge Against The Masculinity of God’s Word
This becomes of greater interest when we realize the trend of men abandoning their suits and ties. Why, you ask? Various excuses are offered, such as, it takes up too much time, they are uncomfortable, they are difficult to tie, and so on. However, I believe it is part and parcel of the attack on society’s masculinity and the biblical model of authority as a whole. More and more of today’s modern style of churches are resorting to dressing down instead of dressing up. Also, the churches are no longer shunning long hair on a man either. Does the Bible really need to remind us?
“Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?” I Cor. 11:14
Why is it that the sharpness of the well dressed and well-kempt man is being eroded? It is the devil’s Trojan horse to change that which pertains to the man to become meaningless. But, if we as Christians will not hold to a long held standard, who will? No one is twisting our arms! We are giving it away little bit by little bit, and our enemies are very patient! We need to hold fast that which is good. Many of these churches, now, ‘social clubs’, no longer look at God the way true bible-believing Christians once did and yet they claim to be right with God just as they are. Sadly, the mantra is becoming as I have heard it said, “Come as you are and leave as you came”. This does not make the necessary difference in the heart. God’s Word says we ought to look and act as peculiar people such as is written in this following verse:
“But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;” I Peter 2:9.
We are not to love the world neither the things that are in the world it says in I John 2:15. Why would we run from that which is better to the world’s slovenly styles? Could it be true that sports commentators and businessmen have a higher regard for their little gods than we have of our Almighty God who offered His only Son to save us from an eternity of torment in Hell? Zondervan, owned by Rupert Murdoch, who also owns the rights to the “Satanic Bible” and “Penthouse Magazine”, is the company that publishes the TNIV. This so-called bible version removes masculinity by changing the genders to neutral in many cases. After sales flopped, Zondervan put out the fourth revision in 2011 of their popular universal NIV bible to return some of the masculine terms that they removed from their TNIV, but to no avail, it was too late. Masculinity is demoted in our English classes as well. At one time, not so long ago, English was taught following historical and traditional rules. According to a book that we have available at Christ The Way Bookstore entitled, “The Puzzle of Ancient Man”, written by Donald Chittick, Ph.D., he exposes the main issue for us in modern society,
“Language reflects a worldview. Misuse of gender-specific pronouns reflects an anti-Biblical worldview. It is a denial of Biblical creation. In the Biblical view, man was created male and female.” (p.5)
Today, in 2019, we are seeing a race to demasculinization. “The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development”, (Agenda 2030) desires throughout the document to transform the world into a new order with the women dominating. As stated in this United Nations manifesto, (found at this site, https://sustainabledevelopment.un.org/post2015/transformingourworld,) they “seek to realize the human rights of all and to achieve gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls”. What kind of doublespeak is that? That means removing the masculinity from the men by demoralizing them through all social means necessary, using women as a scapegoat, and giving the power and control to…well, “the state”. Women have never gained a single solitary right through this agenda of feminism, but rather have sold out their protection and rights under this deceptive banner. This is socialism at its best and, although they have been working on this for generations, this is just the beginning.
It is a fact: there exists a feminization of society today. This loss of masculinity is only a trick of the devil to eliminate God, our Heavenly Father, out of our schools, out of our families, and from society as a whole. This war is against God and His scriptural authority in the Bible. The enemy, through the feminist movement, wants a rebellious and lawless society so people will destroy themselves in the chaos. His plan is to then spread the carnage all over the media for everyone to see to make chaos as the norm in society and then they swoop in to save the day, taking the world as a ripe fruit fit for the picking. Although this is prophesied to come and the consequences are clear, this is diametrically opposed to God’s original plan. We see the chaos. Families are splitting up at record rates. Children are fierce and disobedient to their authorities. Violent crime has risen beyond a manageable rate. Even most of our churches have no idea how to rule the flock in an orderly fashion. Sadly, this will only get worse as those we trust continue to move the masses toward a socialist worldview.
Only we can make the difference beginning with our families.
Men: Read your bible and pray every day! Be a man. Take your position in authority seriously, not abusively. It is your God given right and you WILL give an account to Him.

Wives: Read your bible and pray every day! God’s Word says to be obedient to your own husband, “in every thing”. Let your man lead and take your position at his side.
“Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.” Eph. 5:24
Children: Read your bible and pray every day! Obey your parents in the Lord for this is right!
“Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.” Eph. 6:1
There is a difference, whether in the way we dress, the way we carry ourselves, or the testimony of conversation one with another, we ought to bring glory to God in all we do. If we at least start with ourselves at home in this way, we will have peace in our homes to prove that which is right and acceptable before God and man. Although the Devil is fighting hard and it would seem he is prevailing against us, we read the last chapter of the book, and God wins. ~R.
